LDAP/Active Directory

Integration

Consolidating Network Data

Enterprise organizations are continually searching for cost-efficiencies through internal process improvements and consolidation of application data.

One standard protocol applied to the consolidation of data is LDAP. LDAP provides secure and consolidated network access for users, as well as storing information on domain users and other network assets. Examples of LDAP implementations include Microsoft Active Directory, Novell eDirectory and Sun Java System Directory.

Ionix Service Manager integrates with LDAP technology by synchronizing network user details with the customer and officer records of Infra. Infra will mirror any of the following changes made to the LDAP master database:

  • Inserts (addition of new customers and officers)
  • Updates (made to existing customers and officers)
  • Deletions (of customers and officers from Active Directory)
With this approach, data duplication (and its associated implications for security and productivity) is avoided.

LDAP integration, combined with Ionix Service Manager's integrated security capability allows administrators to perform all support officer and user administration. This reduces maintenance costs and improves the accuracy and efficiency of your network administration.

LDAP integration is also tightly coupled with role based security profiles, such that any new members of LDAP groups can automatically be assigned security profiles with minimal administration overhead.

LDAP also supports the development of robust directory-enabled software applications that access this domain data and therefore improve business agility.
